Quick & Easy Steamy, Spicy, Tomato Pasta

This easy-to-make creamy tomato pasta recipe is perfect for a quick and satisfying weeknight meal. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a delicious and creamy tomato sauce that pairs perfectly with any of the Waveney Mill pasta range.

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 cloves of garlic, diced
  • 1/2 white onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
  • 225g Spatziola pasta
  • Reserved pasta cooking water
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup cheddar cheese, grated
  • Fresh basil, chopped, to serve
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Cook the pasta in salted water until al dente. Reserve about 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water.
  2. In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil, garlic and onion over medium heat. Cook until the onion is soft and translucent.
  3. Add the tomato paste and cook for a few minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Season with salt, pepper, and basil.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream and add the butter and red pepper flakes. Mix well.
  6. Add some of the reserved pasta cooking water to the sauce to thin it out to your desired consistency.
  7. Keep stirring until the sauce has thickened and everything is well combined.
  8. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss until it is evenly coated.
  9. Garnish with grated cheddar cheese and more fresh basil.
